Calculations

“Calculations” are developed from Polaroid/Camcorder photos of previously completed and framed works against the studio wall-- side by side/ overlapped, or still tacked to the wall in order to create possibilities that interest Olsen’s notion that ‘this could be Painting’. A format ‘window’ for the black and white or color photo is cut out on graph paper. The graph paper provides a grid to plot the next painting for its size, shape, direction, scale. Color for the paintings is intuitive, and optional in case of black and white Polaroids and color digital imagery.
